Initial Comments: Hello learning pod 2! I really enjoyed the opportunity of reviewing your interactive learning resource and it is very evident that a lot of meaningful work was put into this resource.
Identify components of the Interactive Learning Resource that might be missing (e.g., appropriate outcomes, alignment, interactivity, inclusivity, technology use and rationale, presentation, grammar, spelling, citations, etc.).
The first component to look into is the calculator activity as I experienced some difficulties while using this aspect of the resource. This is a great learning tool and complimented the topic very well, there were just a few aspects that could be altered to create more clarity. The suggested commands did not work with the technology that I am currently using, and I had troubles fully grasping how to use this activity. This could be adapted by providing further instructions and a brief outline that highlights the main points of how these calculator activities function. Another area that could be improved is that there is a need for more references in particular places to strengthen the material, specifically under the section about direct instruction. This portion of the resource is really well written and by adding more references, the writing could be strengthened even further. In regard to references, under the rationale for technology and the section that explains WordPress, it would be beneficial to add in a citation there as well. A final component to outline is that the learning design and learning theory both seem to be outlined in two different links, which felt slightly confusing. This also occurs for the explanation of universal design and this could be adapted by using an explanation for the reasoning behind the emphasis on these sections or potentially combining the sections as a way to only have the content under one link. |
Provide a summary of The Interactive Learning Resourceās strengths and weaknesses. Draw out specific examples from your peersā work to justify your feedback.
The design of the WordPress site was very pleasant to the eye and made me intrigued to keep learning. The use of highlighting key words was also a helpful piece of the design. The addition under the āconditionalsā section of a supportive visual to connect with the content was helpful and it would be great to implement that into more sections of the resource. The recognition when it is written that āprogramming can be intimidatingā for learners was an excellent aspect to include into the content as that felt like a way to encourage learning. The use of this form of recognition is seen throughout the resource. It is also seen under the section for course rational questions when there is a clear definition that states why this is important. This is an aspect of learning that can be so engaging to learners and starts the educational experience off with a positive foundation! |
Provide general, specific, and practical recommendations to your peers on how to improve their Interactive Learning Resource.Ā
Ā Ā Overall, this interactive learning resource was highly supportive and captivating; however, there are a few details that can be adapted to further strengthen the material. These changes include the addition of more citations, more instructions for the calculator activity, and using one link for material rather than multiple. The resource included all of the necessary components that the outline requires and as a group you overall did a great job! Interactive Learning Resource: https://programmingconcepts.opened.ca/ |
